Ellen Brunker, a senior at Colby High School was recently notified that she is
to be featured in the Eighth Annual Edition of Who’s Who among American high
school students, 1973-74, the largest student award publication in the nation.
Students from over 20,000 public, private and parochial high school throughout
the country are recognized for their leadership in academics, athletics,
activities or community service in the books. Less than three percent of the
junior and senior class students nation-wide are awarded this recognition.
Ellen Brunker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brunker of Colby. She actively
participates in the annual staff, newspaper staff, swimming team. She is a
member of the girls letter winners, band, and National Honor Society, and has
also been a delegate to Badger Girls State.
In addition to having her biography published in the book, Miss Brunker will
also compete for one of ten scholarship awards of $500 to $1,000 funded by the
publishers, and will be invited to participate in the firm’s annual “Survey of
High Achievers.” She plans to attend college, but has not made a definite choice
yet.
