On July 30, about 180-200 descendants of John and Mary Beaver of Loyal gathered
at Mugs Johnson’s farm in Spencer for a huge Beaver Family Reunion. John Beaver
and Mary Domini were married in 1872 and eventually settled in Loyal. Of their
19 children, 10 of them were represented at the reunion with members of six
generations attending. They came from all across the country and ranged in age
from one to 93 years old. Various colored shirts had been ordered to designate
which branch they were from. Laurye Beaver of California did an amazing job of
coordinating the event with Mugs providing the beautiful venue. There was a BBQ
and potluck with lots of food, music, yard games and a bouncy house for the
kids. Additional group activities were also planned for the following days.
These included Sunday morning Mass and visits to the St. Anthony Cemetery, Loyal
Area Historical Society , the original family home in Loyal, and the Highground
Veterans Memorial Park near Neillsville.
