On the weekend of July 29th and 30th, 2022, the Teclaw family held their 11th family reunion in Thorp. 98 descendants of Mike and Verna (Stroinski) Teclaw gathered in Thorp.

Events included the annual family golf tournament at The Whispering Pines Golf Course in Cadott Friday morning, with happy hour at Cindy’s Bar, which was owned by Lil and Leon Kaczmarek for 52 years, until 2000.

Saturday afternoon, nearly one hundred family members returned to Cindy’s Hall for dinner, refreshments, polka music and a partial reading of the new book, “Sit Down and Stay Awhile: My Aunt Lil, a Small Town Bar, and a Lifetime of Polkas,” about the life of Lil (Teclaw) Kaczmarek’s 52 years at Leon and Lil’s, written by her nephew, Ken Szymanski.

A presentation was made by Donald Szymanski, reviewing the participation of the Teclaw members in the Armed Services, starting with Mike Teclaw in World War 1, serving in France.

The celebration continued into the late evening hours with laughter, tears, games and reminiscing at the home of Raymond Teclaw and Lil Kaczmarek.

Unable to attend were: Alois Teclaw (age 99) in Oshkosh, WI, and Marion (92) in Des Moines, Iowa.
