Ylvisaker, Nora (25 May 1919 – 31 July 2022)
Nora Ylvisaker, age 103, passed away at Skaalen Heritage on Sunday, July 31. She
was born in Stoughton to Martin and Elise (Arneson) Bondehagen on May 25, 1919.
Nora lived most of her life in Stoughton except for 20 years when the family
lived in Neillsville.
During her life Nora was an excellent homemaker and mother. Her life was
directed by faith and family. She was a member of the church choir, church
Circle and also volunteered at the hospital. She was a member of Eastern Star,
Lioness, the Country Club and a 50 year member of Sons of Norway. She
particularly enjoyed hand work, baking, playing bridge and walking with friends
(usually 3 miles 5 times a week).
Nora and her husband Joe enjoyed traveling to many locations in the world
including several trips to Norway, other parts of Europe, the Holy Land and
Iran.
She was always helping others. Even at Skaalen, where she was a resident for
almost 11 years, she continued to find ways to befriend and help other residents
saying that God didn’t take her because there was still something for her to do.
Her mind and memory were very sharp, her hearing was perfect and she could live
with very little assistance until just a few months before her death.
Nora is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth (Tom) Barr of Minneapolis and Mary
Zoroufy of Madison, 9 grandchildren, Jim Barr (Diane), Kathy Barr, Mike Barr
(Danielle) and David Barr (Jada), Darius Zoroufy (Holly), Hussein Zoroufy
(Tammy), Jeff Ylvisaker (Angela Waltz), Steve Ylvisaker and Joel Ylvisaker
(Erin). She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, (Albert, Melvin,
Esther, Karl and Ann), husband Joseph and son Joel.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at
First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard
Halom officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends and
relatives are invited to a luncheon, in the church fellowship hall, following
the burial. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of
services at church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the
Humane Society, Porch Light and 1st Lutheran Church, Stoughton.
Please share your memories of Nora by posting on her Tribute Wall.
