Hoff, Gregory L. (24 June 1962 - 8 August 2022) With Flag
Gregory L. Hoff, 60, of Thorp, left this world suddenly on Monday, August 8,
2022.
He was born on June 24, 1962, to Ronald and Charlotte (Butcher) Hoff in
Logansport, IN. The family later moved to Wisconsin, where he attended schools
in both Greenwood and Thorp, graduating from Thorp High School in 1980.
Greg served in the U. S. Army from 1980 to 1984 and was stationed at Camp
Humphries, South Korea and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He owned and operated G. L.
Hoff Trucking for over 23 years. Since 2012, he worked for Haas Sons, Inc. in
Thorp, as a dump truck driver.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jill F.
Deutschlander, on November 14, 1981. They made an extraordinary team, each one
strong where the other was weak. In the 40 years they shared, their love
continually grew as they built their cherished family. Together, they braved
times of both blessing and adversity, allowing each to deepen their bond and
commitment to one another.
Greg was a hard worker and dedicated provider who approached all that he did
with excellence and passion. He loved to make others laugh and was an expert in
sarcasm, a skill that will live on in his children. Greg had a memorable
personality, a commanding presence, and was generous and hospitable. He was
truly “greg-arious” and enjoyed being in the company of his friends. He greatly
valued and appreciated authenticity and honesty.
He loved time spent on the lake or around the campfire and was especially fond
of spontaneous adventures with his family. He was an exceptional cook and loved
food, his favorite being a good steak. But what he most treasured and fiercely
loved was his family, each one of whom he considered a gift.
Greg is survived by his wife, Jill; children: Kayla (Andrew) Larson of Thorp,
Samantha (Kingsley) Ogbeifun of Thorp, Sabrina (Brandon) Walker of Carrollton,
GA, and Grayson Hoff, Gevaughn Hoff, Garrett Hoff, and Grady Hoff, all of Thorp;
grandchildren Brock Larson of Sparta, TN, Daria Larson of Wausau, Giorgiana
Larson and LaVinia Larson of Thorp, Daniel Ogbeifun and Miracle Ogbeifun of
Benin City, Nigeria; his parents, Ronald and Charlotte Hoff of Conrath;
siblings: Gary (Peggy) Hoff of Lublin, Penny (Robert) Nelson of Bruce, Kevin
(Carrie) Hoff of Cadott, and Kent (Becky) Hoff of Eau Claire; and mother-in-law
Ruth Deutschlander of Thorp. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law,
Leslie Deutschlander.
A time of remembrance will be observed on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 4-7 p.m.
at Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp.
