Opelt, Roberta Mae (Engagement - 1982)
The engagement of Roberta Mae Opelt to Robert Allen Gaier was recently announced
by the bride-to-be’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Opelt, Rt. 1 Neillsville. The
groom-to-be’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gaier, also of Rt. 1. Roberta is a
1981 graduate of Neillsville High School and is employed by Neillsville Memorial
Home and the Neillsville Country Club. Robert is a 1980 graduate of the same
school and is employed by Neillsville Co-op Transport. A May 1 wedding is being
planned.

The Rev. Gary Clark officiated at the Saturday mid-afternoon, May 1, Neillsville
United Church of Christ wedding for Roberta Mae Opelt and Robert Allen Gaier.
Parents of the couple are Dale and Betty Opelt and Harold and Alice Gaier, both
couples of Rt. 1 Neillsville.
Lois Anding as soloist with Deon Spangler accompanying offered “The Wedding
Song,” “Color My World” and “Sunrise, Sunset” as the special musical offerings
for the nuptials.
Lana Elmhorst, a friend of the bride from Neillsville, as maid of honor. She was
joined by Vicci Gaier, the groom’s sister, and Lisa Opelt, the bride’s sister.
Stacy Boon was miniature bride and Carl Opelt was ring bearer. Bestman was Tim
Burr, a friend of the groom, who was joined by Steve Meier, the groom’s friend
and Jim Urlaub, a cousin of the bride. Ushering were Rick Opelt and Paul
Christenson.
The bride chose a gown of Dacron polyester organza trimmed in silk Venician lace
with an accented, circular flounced skirt and attached brush train. She carried
a bouquet of blue and white carnations with yellow roses and baby’s breath. Her
attendants wore blue polyester and cotton voile-lined gowns in acetate taffeta
with a bustle effect. They carried bouquets of baby mums, forget-me-nots and
baby’s breath.
Following the service, a reception and dance was held at the Clark County
Fairgrounds.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Gaier will make their home at Rt. 1 Granton. Both are
graduates of Neillsville High School. She is employed aby Neillsville Memorial
Nursing Home and he by Neillsville Co-op Transport.
