Giese, Mr./Mrs. Arthur (Gold – Sep 1974)
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Giese, Route 1, Edgar, celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on Saturday, September 7, 1974.
An open house was held at their home in the afternoon, a dinner was held at
Peace Lutheran Church, and dance was held at the Abbotsford City Hall. The Rev.
Lewis Davidson gave a sermon at the church program, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Wenzel, sister and brother-in-law of Mrs. Giese, were the vocalists.
Members of the original wedding party attending the observance were Mr. and Mrs.
August Giese, Route 1, Edgar, and Mr. and Mrs. August Giese, Route 1, Edgar, and
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoerner, Edgar.
Guests from out of state were Mr. and Mrs. William Dupke, Seattle, Washington,
and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Segmiller, Laurel, Montana.
Giese was born December 4, 1902 in the town of Frankfort, and his wife, the
former Elsie Schmidt, was born May 21, 1905 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
They were married September 4, 1934 in Peace Lutheran Church, Town of Frankfort.
They have farmed on Route 1, Edgar the past 56 years, and are continuing to farm
on a small scale.
Giese plays dirtball and works in the wood. Mrs. Giese enjoys flower gardening,
knitting and quilting. She is active in church work and is a Sunday School
teacher.
Their children are William, Route 1, Edgar, Mrs. Robert Erickson, Cory,
Illinois, Noreen, Marshfield, Meldon, Edgar, Mrs. Roger Stremer, Millbury,
Mass., and Etola , Phillips. There are 11 grandchildren.
