Services were held for Rose Thorn, 87, Colby, on Monday, September 23, 1974 at
11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. The Rev. Francis Rushman
officiated. She passed away on Friday at the Colonial Home in Colby.
The former Rose Apfelbeck married Peter Thorn on November 23, 1909 in Colby. She
received her education at Riverside School and lived in Colby most of her life.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church Christian Mothers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, who passed away March 1914, one
daughter, two sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Elsie) Olstinski, Marshfield,
and Mrs. Francis (Clara) Stingler, Franksville.
Other survivors include three brothers: Lee Apfelbeck Bernard Apfelbeck and
Albert Apfelbeck, all of Colby, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thorne also received a Christian Mothers Rosary at the Lulloff Funeral Home
and General Parish Rosary Sunday evening.
