Hedler, Lillian L. “Red” (20 December 1930 – 29 August 2022)

Lillian L. "Red" Hedler, 91, of Thorp, passed away at her home on Monday, August 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Lillian Louise Sierocuk was born on December 20, 1930, in Thorp, the daughter of Frank A. and Victoria (Obrycki) Sierocuk. She was raised and educated in the Thorp area, graduating from Thorp High School in 1948. After high school, Red worked for Thorp Finance until her marriage to Francis A. "Deacon" Hedler on January 28, 1950, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. She was a stay-at-home mom, raising their six children, until later going to work for Ambu-Van, in Wausau, after their kids graduated from high school.

She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, playing cards, sitting by the campfire at the lake, a good Bloody Mary, and raising flowers and vegetables in her gardens.
Red was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women, and was a dedicated member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her five daughters: Nancy Woods of Neillsville, Peggy (Dan) Stroinski of Thorp, Sally Hedler of Wasilla, AK, Lynn (Jim) Isenberger of Thorp, and Sue Hedler of Thorp; 10 grandchildren: Amanda (Jim) Bockenfeld, Clinton (Julie) Woods, Amy (Travis) McNamara, Cara Stroinski (Steve Wink), Kelsey (Austin) Tollefson, Rachel Vosburg, Sam Isenberger, Jill (Bryan Brazier) Hedler, Sara Hedler, and Eric (Amy) Hedler; 15 great-grandchildren: Deacon, Owen, Layla, Lars, Lexi, Layne, Hailee, Skylar, Paige, Danny, Eli, Ava, Hannah, Murray, and Dalton; her daughter-in-law: Carol Hedler of Wasilla, AK; one brother: Marion (Patricia) Sierocuk of Pardeeville; two sisters: Harriet Kollak of Holcombe, and Lucille Wojtowicz of Rockford, IL.

Red was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis "Deacon" Hedler; her son, Dennis D. Hedler; and her son-in-law, Tom Woods; two brothers: Henry and Anton Sieroczuk; and two sisters: Verna Ruegger and Cecelia Weseman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate, and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Hedler, Clinton, Woods, Austin Tollefson, Travis McNamara, Jim Bockenfeld, Sam Isenberger and Steve Wink. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Thorp Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a 7:30 p.m. Thorp American Legion Auxiliary service, followed by a rosary recital. Visitation will also be held at the church, on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
