Oelke, Mr./Mrs. Edward (Gold – 30 Oct 1974)
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Oelke celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday
afternoon, October 6, 1974 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Poehnelt, Abbotsford.
They were married October 30, 1924 in Dorchester.
Edward Oehlke’s parents were Gustave and Pauline Oelke. He was born November 14,
1898 in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Mrs. Oelke was born March 25, 1901 at Blue
Earth, Minnesota to the late Frederick Mueller and Laura Mueller Ploeckelman.
Mrs. Oehlke’s mother, age 94, and step-father, age 92, are still living. They
make their home at Colonial House in Colby.
Their wedding attendants, Henry Oelke and Iren Ploeckelman Lindau were both
present for the celebration.
Guests attending were Mr. an Mrs. Ben Oelke, Baraboo, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Oelke
and Glendon, Stetsonville, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lueth, Hazlehurst, Mr. and Mrs.
George Lindau and Dennis, Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. George Sampson and Mrs. Del
Cinduson and Dave, Cable, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ploeckelman, Dorchester, Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Peissig, Medford, Mrs. Hattie Thede, Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy
Gallistel, Ogema, Mr. and Mrs. Telaval Oelke, West Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Oelke, Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Poehnelt, Abbotsford, and Cheryl and Karen
Poehnelt, Milwaukee. Twelve of their 15 grandchildren attended.
The couple has 4 children, (Lita) Mrs. Leo Poehnelt, Abbotsford, Kenneth,
Dorchester, Leland, West Bend, and Alvin, who died in infancy.
Dinner was served to the invite guests at the Colby Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Oelke, who are both in poor health, are presently making their
home with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Oelke at 703
Pleasant Drive, West Bend.
