Schnabel, William (29 Oct 1902 – 11 Oct 1974)
William Schnabel, R.R. 2, Colby, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Marshfield on Sunday, October 11, 1974 at 7:10 p.m. of an apparent
heart attack.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m. at First United
Church of Christ with the Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiating. He was buried in
Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Born on October 29, 1902 in Tripp, South Dakota, Mr. Schnabel married the former
Lydia Alexander on September 27, 1927. The couple moved to Colby to the township
of Hull, and lived there until 1944, after which they moved to Stratford, where
they farmed until they moved to the Township of Brighton, Unity, where he farmed
until his death.
He is survived by his wife Lydia, and three sons and two daughters, Marvin
Schnabel, Elm Grove, Illinois, Raymond Schnabel, Unity, Donald Schnabel, Colby,
Mrs. William (Lucille) Helmke, Stratford, and Mrs. Ronald (Lillian) Schmidt,
Colby.
He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Leo Schnabel, Oregon,
Wisconsin, Reuben Schnabel, Wausau, Mrs. Jake (Kate) Meier, Wausau, and Emily
Mehlhaff, Tripp.
He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
