Funeral services for Clark Van Gorder, 80, of Melrose were held Thursday, June
5, at First United Methodist Church in Melrose, N.M.
The Rev. David Snyman officiated with Steed-Todd Funeral Home handling
arrangements. Burial plans are pending in Colby.
Clark died June 1 at Clovis High Plains Hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1905, in
Fifield, son of Charles and Pearl Van Gorder of Loyal and had been a resident of
Melrose since 1968.
He worked as a refrigeration engineer and was a member of First United Methodist
Church in Melrose, master of Melrose Masonic Lodge No. 38 in 1975, president of
Melrose Rotary Club from 1972-1973, Eastern Star No. 30 in Melrose, a life
member of Anchor and Ark, Lodge No. 1027 in Waukegan, Ill.
He married Laura Lucille Awe Nov. 15, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minn.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, two brothers, Denzil Van Gorder of Waukesha
and Robert Van Gorder of Carpentersville, Ill.; two sisters, Winefred Pilgrim of
Chippewa Falls and Dorothy Hotvedt of Eau Claire; and nine nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Casket bearers included: John Pruitt, Claude Thomas, R. L. Burch, Gerald Fowler,
Bill Burdette and Glen Gonser. Honorary bearers included: Earnest Cooper, Coyle
Christesson, Elizie Christesson and Duane Nahlovsky.
Contributions can be made to the Melrose Ambulance Fund.
