Lockman, Clarice Marcella (21 February 1925 – 26 August 2013)
Clarice Marcella Lockman,88, of Longview went to heaven on Aug. 26, 2013, in
Vancouver.
She was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Neillsville, Wis, to Julius Albertus and Jennie
Youmans (Winton) Winter.
For one year, she worked in a bullet-sorting factory during World War II. In
later months, she worked the pumps used to heat soldiers’ barracks. She and Ward
A. Lockman were married Nov. 11, 1945, in Neillsville, Wis.
After moving to Washington state in 1947, she became a homemaker, a Camp Fire
Leader and volunteered at Olympic grade school. She served for many years in
roles such as president and secretary-treasurer of Bethany Circle. She was a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed family trips to Wisconsin as well
as trips to Oahu, Washington, D.C., New York, Florida and many camping trips.
She was honest and happy and was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother.
Survivors include daughters, LaDonna Kay Hiler of Longview and Carrie (Larry)
Hoffman of Winlock; sister Grace Schoen of Neillsville, six grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, “Wardie,” as did a
daughter, Darlene Grace Lockman, and two brothers, Arthur and Clifford and four
sisters, Alice Lisko, Edith Ottens, Vivian Flaherty, and Florence Marty.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Steele Chapel at Longview
Memorial Park with Pastor Craig Hafterson officiating. Viewing will be from 9
a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steele Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church at Longview.
