Backus, Joann (13 February 1982)

Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville was the Saturday, February 13, setting for the marriage of Joann Backus and Donald Fleischmann. The Rev. Paul Forde officiated at the 3:30 p.m. service.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Backus of Willard and Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Fleischmann of Neillsville.

Tom and Debbie Drescher were the couple’s attendants.

The bride chose an ivory, street-length dress.

Following the service, a reception and dance were held at the Neillsville American Legion hall.

Prenuptial events included a shower given by Darlene Benedict and Emmy Fleischmann; the later also baked and decorated the three-tier wedding cake.

The bride is a 1978 graduate of Greenwood High School. Her husband is a 1971 graduate of Neillsville High School. The couple will be making their home in Marshfield.
