Mayer, Barbara (27 February 1982)

Barbara Mayer and Vern Gander were married on Saturday, February 27, ceremonies in St. Joseph’s Fairview Catholic Church with the Rev. John Cassidy officiating. Parents of the couple are Norman and Donna Mayer of Humbird and Ivy and Laura Gander of Ithaca.

Attending the couple were Judy McDougall as matron of honor. She was joined by Carmen and Kathy Mayer as bridesmaids. Best man was Doug Albert with Ken and Tom Gander as groomsmen.

Marianne Johnson was the soloist, accompanied by Nelda Stuve.

Following the service, a reception and dance was held at the Black River Falls American Legion Hall.

The couple will make their home in La Crosse. The new Mrs. Gander is a student at UW-La Crosse. Her husband is employed as a computer operator for Machine Products of La Crosse.

On Sunday morning, February 28, about 50 relatives shared in a brunch at the Norman Mayer home. It was at that event that the couple opened their gifts.
