Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. (Golden – 30 March 1982)
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Adams, Rt. 4, Neillsville, were honored at a 50th wedding
anniversary party held Saturday evening, March 27, at the Wildcat Inn.
Elmer C. Adams, son of Mr and Mrs. William Adams, and Hazel Mae Brown, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Brown, were married on March 30. 1932, at Globe Lutheran
Church; the Rev. W. Motzkus officiated. Attendants were Viola (Adams) Sharratt,
sister of the groom; Florence (Stelloh) Thiel, cousin of the groom; and George
Luebke, brother of the bride.
The Adams’ lived in the Town of Weston for five years. Then they moved to a farm
in the Town of Levis, living there for one year. Then they moved to the Town of
Pine Valley where they have resided for the past 44 years.
Elmer was born in Onarga, Ill., county of Iroquois, on July 2, 1909, and
received his education at the Hillside Grade School of Pine Valley. He served on
the church council for several years. He also worked at various jobs in the area
as well as hauling milk and farming on the present farm. For recreation, he
enjoys hunting.
The former Hazel Brown was born in the Town of Weston, on August 6, 1912, and
attended the Forman School.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams both attend the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Neillsville.
The couple have six children. Those attending the celebration were Mrs. Duane (Rhoena)
Marg, of Granton and Larry Adams, Mrs. Andrew (Nancy) Ruzeck, Mrs. Denis
(Bonnie) Kuechenmeister, and Mrs. John (Barbara) Walk, all of Neillsville. There
are 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Among those coming from a distance were Mrs. Adams’ brother, George Luebke and
wife, Margaret, and sons, Alvin and George Jr., from Milwaukee; Grandchildren,
Ruth Marg and John Patton from Minnesota; Susan and Phil Herreid from Madison;
Sherie Marg from Madison; David and Danny Marg from Casper, Wy.; and Mark
Kuechenmeister from Madison.
The table was decorated with a centerpiece of driftwood, roses and baby’s breath
with a picture of their wedding. Other pictures were displayed of the family.
There was also a large, decorated anniversary cake.
