Chase, Clarence M. (25 September 1898 – 3 April 1982) With Flag
Clarence M. Chase, 83, a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home, passed away
in the Home on Saturday evening, April 3.
Mr. Chase was born on September 25, 1898, in Waushara County to Joseph and Dora
(Neilsen) Chase. He received his education in the Neillsville Schools and then
entered the service, serving in France and Germany from March 29, 1917, to May
22, 1919.
After the service, he worked at the Minnesota state prison in Stillwater and
then for the U.S. Post Office in Chicago until retiring. He spent his last six
years as a resident of Memorial Home.
Surviving him are two daughters, Marian Lehmicke of Stillwater and Mrs. Eugene
(Peggy) Spiess of St. Paul; two sisters, Murial Kutchera and Mrs. Milo (Leona)
Mabie, both of Neillsville; two brothers, Roy of Neillsville and Joe of Granton;
one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five
brothers and four sisters.
Memorial services were to be held on Tuesday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m. from the
Gesche Funeral Home. The Rev. William Noble of the Neillsville United Methodist
Church is to officiate. (The body is to be cremated, with ashes interred at the
Neillsville City Cemetery.)
