Wicker, Fannie (1 Jan 1877 – 25 Oct 1974)
Services were held for Fannie Wicker, 97, on Monday, October 28, 1974 at 2 p.m.
at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Schroerlucke officiating. Mrs.
Wicker passed away later Friday night, October 25, 1974 at the Colonial House of
Colby. She was buried in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Born on January 1, 1877 in South Dakota, the former Fannie Hart married George
Wicker on June 24, 1905. She received her education in Marshall, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Wicker came to Colby in 1903 and worked as a telephone operator until she
and her husband farmed on the homestead farm until 1949.
She was Colby’s oldest resident and was honored as such as Queen of the
Centennial a year ago this past summer.
She was a member of the Colby United Methodist Church and the United Methodist
Women’s Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1959, and a son who
died in April 1974.
