Paulson, Grace I. (30 April 1903 – 11 April 1982)
A former Town of Grant woman, Grace I. Paulson, 78, passed away in a College
Place, Washington, nursing home on Sunday, April 11. She had made her home in
Walla Walla, Washington for the past nine years.
The deceased was born on April 30, 1903, in Oshkosh to Archibald and Mary
(Wilder) Chapman. She married Clifton A. Paulson, in July 14, 1921, Granton
ceremonies. The couple lived in the Granton and Neillsville areas for many
years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Homemakers clubs and the senior
citizens.
Surviving her is a son, Chapman, Las Cruces, New Mex.; a daughter, Mrs. Willard
(Patricia) Rohde, Walla Walla; a brother, Lester Chapman, Santa Rosa, Calif.;
four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her husband (February 11, 1971), a daughter Joyce and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville, with the Rev. William Noble of the United Methodist
Church officiating. (Visitations were held Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00
p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday morning until time of the
service.) Special music for the serviced was provided by Iris Musil. Burial was
made in the Windfall Cemetery, at Granton with pallbearers, John Bergemann,
Robert Marty, Donald Marg, “Gabby” Schultz, Calvin Gerhardt and Walter Brown.
Attending services from out-of-town were Mr./Mrs. Willard Rohde, Walla Walla,
Wash., Mr./Mrs. Chapman Paulson, Las Cruces, N. M.; Mr./Mrs. Ervin Voigt,
Madison; Mr./Mrs. Gene Hart, Green Lake; David Berlick and David and Louis
Grottke and daughters, all of Marshfield; Mr./Mrs. Morris Johnson, Wis. Rapids;
Mr./Mrs. Garfield Freeberg, Eau Claire; Mr./Mrs. Engelsman, Maywood, Ill.; and
several members of the Granton Royal, Neighbors.
