Nielsen, Glenn (Assistant Pastor Call - 1982)
Glenn Nielsen, former resident of Neillsville, has received a call to become
assistant pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Missouri.
Nielsen, who graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in May
1981, will be ordained in his home congregation, St. John’s Lutheran Church,
Pittsville, at 9:00 a.m. on May 30 and installed at Immanuel on July 25. This
past year he has been working toward an advanced degree in the School for
Graduate Studies at Concordia Seminary.
The son of Sylvia Nielsen and the late George Nielsen, the new pastor Nielsen is
married to Susan (Waggoner) of Matteson, Illinois. They are expecting their
first child in August.
Pastor Nielsen attended the UW-Center-Marshfield for one year before enrolling
at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. He received his B.A. in theology
from the latter institution. He began his studies at Concordia Seminary in 1977.
Concordia Seminary is one of two seminaries owned and operated by the Lutheran
Church—Missouri Synod. It has graduated more than 10,000 pastors in its 143-year
history.
