Glenn Nielsen, former resident of Neillsville, has received a call to become assistant pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Missouri.

Nielsen, who graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in May 1981, will be ordained in his home congregation, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittsville, at 9:00 a.m. on May 30 and installed at Immanuel on July 25. This past year he has been working toward an advanced degree in the School for Graduate Studies at Concordia Seminary.

The son of Sylvia Nielsen and the late George Nielsen, the new pastor Nielsen is married to Susan (Waggoner) of Matteson, Illinois. They are expecting their first child in August.

Pastor Nielsen attended the UW-Center-Marshfield for one year before enrolling at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. He received his B.A. in theology from the latter institution. He began his studies at Concordia Seminary in 1977.

Concordia Seminary is one of two seminaries owned and operated by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. It has graduated more than 10,000 pastors in its 143-year history.
