Durni, Faune J. (6 September 1903 – 10 May 1982)
Faune J. Durni, 78, of Hatfield passed away on Monday afternoon, May 10, at the
Pine View Nursing Home in Black River Falls.
The deceased was born on September 6, 1903, in Ellenboro to Ira and Flora (Niveral)
Durni. He received his education in Platteville and Potosi schools and then
worked for several years near those communities, holding positions on the
Mississippi River and in construction as swell as farming. On June 17, 1944, he
married Ida Grottke in Dubuque, Iowa, ceremonies. The couple then moved to
Milwaukee where he did factory work for many years.
Upon his retirement, the Durni couple moved to Hatfield. He has been a resident
of the Pine View Nursing home for the past several months due to failing health.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville and the
Hatfield Sportsmen’s Club.
Surviving him, besides his wife, is a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Deloris) Seitz,
Platteville; Duane Durni, Hazel Green; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Lenice) Rambo
of Dubuque and Mrs. Lavone Donabedian of Sacramento, Calif.; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
brother.
Funeral services were to be held today (Thursday, May 13) at 1:30 p.m. from the
Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff of St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church was to officiate with burial in the Hatfield
Cemetery. Pallbearers were to be Donald and Michael Seitz, Leonard Durni, Herb
Grottke, Arnie Weber and Leonard Bolster. (Visitation at the funeral home was to
be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday morning until time of
service.)
