Ulrich, Helen J. (11 September 1899 – 19 May 1982)
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, May 21, for Mrs. Ernest (Helen
J.) Ulrich, 82, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, who passed away in Neillsville Memorial
Hospital on Wednesday, May 19, with the Gesche Funeral Home making arrangements.
The Rev. Paul Forde of Calvary Lutheran Church officiated with burial made in
the Neillsville City Cemetery.
The deceased was born on September 11, 1899, in Jackson County to Frank and Anna
(Thiel) Fiala. She received her education in that county and then worked in
Chicago for Western Electric for several years. On November 25, 1923, she
married Ernest F. Ulrich in Granton ceremonies. The couple then farmed in the
Town of Levis, remaining there all their lives. They retired in 1963, continuing
to live on the home farm.
Surviving her, besides her husband, is a son George, Neillsville; three
daughters, Hilda Ulrich and Elsie Ulrich, both of Neillsville, and Mrs. Anton
(Grace) Trunkel, Toma; a sister, Mrs. Frances Mertens, San Leonardo, California;
and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a grandson.
Serving as pallbearers were Herron Van Gorden, Earl Bruhn, Art Drescher, Laddie
Matousek, Joe Struensee and Ambros Marco. Music for the service was offered by
Mae Peters and Deon Spangler.
Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Anton Trunkel and
sons, Tomah; Stan Olson, Waukesha; Mr. and Mrs. Ambros Marco, West Salem; and
Bill Sisson, Greenwood.
