Loos, Walter H. (17 Jan 1896 – 13 Dec 1974)

Walter H. Loos, 87, Colby, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield early Friday morning, December 13, 1974 of a heart attack.

Services were held for Mr. Loos at First United Church of Christ, Colby, on Monday, December 16, with Rev. Kenneth Dix officiating. Interment was in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

He was born on January 17, 1896 in the Town of Schleswick. Mr. Loos received his education in Louis Corners and Plainview School in the Town of Colby.

On September 17, 1921 he married the former Nina Riemer in the Town of Hamburg, Athens.

Mr. Loos lived in the Colby area since he was nine years old and farmed in the Town of Colby until 1959, when he retired and went to work for Weyerhauser in 1964. He then retired and lived in the Town of Colby.

He and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1971/

Mr. Loos was a school board member for the Town of Colby for several years and was a member of First United Church of Christ and Royal Neighbors of America. He was also well known for his woodcraft hobby.

Mr. Loos is survived by his wife, three daughters Mrs. Herb (Marcella) Sauer, Colby, Mrs. Merton (Lorraine) Morrow, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mrs. Edward (Emilie) Kappel, Stratford, and two sons, Darrel and Dean, Colby.

Other survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Elenore Williams, Unity and Mrs. Ervin (Irma) Fischer, Unity, and 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were all grandsons: Clifford Sauer, Roger Sauer, Mark Loos, Tom Loos, Brian Loos and James Kappel.
