About fifty-five relatives and friends attended open house held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bakke, Abbotsford, Sunday afternoon to honor Albert Bakke, now a resident of Stevens Point, celebrate his 90th birthday.

Those present came from the Withee, Owen, Curtiss and Abbotsford areas, as well as relatives from Stevens Point.

Mr. Bakke was born in Oslo, Norway on January 7, 1885 and came to the United States in 1903 and found employment in Minneapolis.

It was while in Minneapolis that he married Mathilda Erickson in 1906. They moved to the Midway Area, west of Curtiss, in 1908, where they farmed. They were the parents of four children, Edna, Mrs. Lawrence Kline, Stevens Point, Arnold, Abbotsford, Norman, Waukegan, Illinois, and Margaret, Mrs. Robert Peterson, Owen. Mrs. Bakke passed away in September 1925.

Mr. Bakke’s second marriage to Louis Larson took place in 1928. They continued farming until 1944, when they sold the farm to Arnold Bakke and moved to Curtiss, where they lived until Mrs. Bakke passed away in 1969. Since then, Albert has been making his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kline.

He has 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bakke is in good health, in spite of his advanced age, and enjoys gardening and reading. We wish him continued good health in the years ahead.
