Walters, Robert W. (18 July 1938 – 7 November 2022)
Robert W. Walters formerly from Withee, passed away peacefully surrounded by his
loving family on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Bob was born in Chicago, IL on July 18, 1938, to the late William Helwig and
Florence Walters. Bob lived in Chicago and worked for American Airlines and
Signode Steel Corp. He met and married Jackie Daley on Sept. 24, 1960. They were
blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. In 1973, they moved to Thorp, WI and bought
a small dairy farm which they operated with the help of their 3 daughters, until
1983 when they sold the dairy herd. Bob then bought a small backhoe and dump
truck doing small excavating jobs around the area. They moved back to IL for 10
years where Bob worked in Maintenance at Automation Industries and
Georgia-Pacific.
In 2000 Bob built a small log home on the back 40 of his farm, doing much of the
work himself. The property was surrounded by some of the 6000 spruce and pine
trees the family planted over the years. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman,
going to Canada several times for bear with his buddy Wally. Bob loved dogs all
his life and Spike and Butkus were his constant companions.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother Florence, his
stepdad Harold, his sister Delores, his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Marie
Daley. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Jackie, his 3 daughters
Donnalee (Douglas Hustedt), Cory Lynn (Philip Haas), Kelly Marie (James Morgan),
1 brother Harold, 7 grandchildren: Jason, Lindsey, Jacob, Benjamin, Carly Anne,
Mackenzie, Zachary, 8 great-grandchildren Connor, Ava, Eli, Allie, Tenley,
Logan, Carl, and James.
A memorial mass will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022, at St.
Bernard’s/St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church-Thorp with Father Stanislaus Antony
officiating. Inurnment will follow in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Plombon Funeral Service
assisted the family.
