Approximately 100 people attended the seventh annual snowmobile race in Curtiss
sponsored by the Rib Mountain Silent Sport Club, Wausau, on Saturday, February
1, 1975.
Twenty-five racers, all deaf mutes, entered the race of Class C, D, E and
modified for cross country, oval, drag and slalom.
Competitors came from Illinois, Minnesota and the central Wisconsin area. Dale
Johnson from Minnesota was the winner with the highest points and received a
large trophy.
Drag awards went to Ray Marcelle Sr., Dale Johnson, Vel Ray Wollin and Richard
Lewis.
Oval trophies were present to David Mc Alear, Dale Johnson, Vel Ray Wollin and
Richard Lewis.
Twelve person entered the Slalom race course and the beer drinking contest had
18 contestants.
Five men from Chippewa Falls rode to Curtiss by snowmobile for the event, as
they had one last year.
Door prizes were given to 25 people.
