Bouquets of colored mums decorated the altar of the First United Church of Christ at Colby for the marriage of Connie Jean Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald A. Schmidt, Colby, and Michael M. Kilty of Edgar.

The 1:30 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, February 1, 1975 was performed by the Rev. Kenneth A. Dix. Soloist Marvin Schnabel sang “Wedding Song” and “Today”, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Dix at the organ.

For her special day the bride chose to wear her mother’s dress. It featured a lace over satin bodice and mandarin collar, with sleeves coming to points over the writes. The satin skirt, overlayed with lace, concluded in a long train. Her lace edged veil was attached to a Juliet cap, and she carried a heart shaped bouquet of red roses and stephanotis.

The bride friend, Laurie Beisner, Colby, was the maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Deborah Johnson, Marshfield, sister of the bride, and Lonna Podevels, Colby, friend of the bride.

The attendants wore floor length gowns with hooded jackets in the colors of rus, green, yellow and orchid. Each carried a bouquet of colored mums and white roses.

Serving his brother’s as best man was Donald R. Schmidt, Colby. Groomsmen were Ronald Olson, Marshfield, brother-in-law of the bride, and David Schmidt, Colby, brother of the bride, and Patrick Kilty, Edgar, brother of the bridegroom. Candle lighters were Daniel Schmidt, Colby and Mark Kilty, Edgar, brothers of the bridal couple.

Following the wedding a reception, dinner and dance were held at Memorial Hall in Dorchester.

The bride is a student at Colby High School. Her husband is a 1974 graduate of Colby High School and is presently attending UW-Madison.
