Severson, Lillian M. (12 March 1899 – 8 June 1982)

A former employee of both the telephone company and an agribusiness in Neillsville, Lillian M. Severson, 83, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital on June 8. In failing health, Mrs. Severson had been a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home for several years.

On March 12, 1899, Lillian M. Wasserburger was born in Neillsville to John and Ida (Hoffman) Wasserburger. She attended Neillsville Schools, graduating from high school in 1917. She then worked for Claude Sturdevant as a secretary until her March 7, 1923, married to Harvey Severson in Winona, Minnesota, ceremonies.

The couple made their home in Wausau for some time. In 1950, Mr. Severson died, and Mrs. Severson returned to Neillsville. It was that that she worked for Badger State Telephone Company and the Production Credit Association of Neillsville. She also took care of her ailing mother for several years.

Mrs. Severson left no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Harry and George.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, June 11, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiated with burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Carl, Frank and William Hoffman, Leo Kessler, Ernest Schwellenbach and Edwin Sternitzky. Special music for the service was provided by Vanita Volkert.
