Ruggles, James Walter (23 October 1931 – 14 July 1995)
James Walter Ruggles, 63, Withee, died at 5;10 p.m. July 14, 1995, in the
emergency room of St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield.
Jim Ruggles was born Oct. 23, 1931, in the Town of Hixon, the son of Walter and
Myrtle (Barnes) Ruggles. He attended area schools and Withee High School. On
Aug. 4, 1951, Jim and the former Joyce Hodnett were united in marriage, and they
farmed in the Town of Longwood for 43 years. He also worked in Longwood and
Greenwood Area cheese factories. He was an artificial inseminator for Piper
Bros., and worked at the Longwood Feed Mill in the 1960’s.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ruggles of Withee; one son, David “Bucky”
(Debbie) Ruggles of Granton; one daughter, Patricia Joan (David) Bailey of Fall
Creek; his mother Myrtle Ruggles of Columbus, Miss.; one brother, Jerry (Ethel)
Ruggles of Columbus, Miss.; two sisters, Mary Lou (Tom) Jancetic of Tucson,
Ariz., and June Roettger of Pepin; and three grandchildren, Jeremy, Larissa and
Kelsey Ruggles
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ruggles, one brother, Robert
Ruggles and an infant sister, Evelyn Ruggles.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.
The Rev. Steve Groves of the United Methodist Church of Loyal will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation will be from 4 –
9 p.m. today at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.
Pallbearers will be Paul Ruggles, Jeremy Ruggles, Greg Navarre, Robert Ruggles,
Jr., Tim Ruggles and Tod Roettger. Honorary pallbearers will be Art Petke, Sr.,
Ted Klabon, Jeff Greschner, Orlando Olson, Jr., Art Petke, Jr., Lawrence
Hopfensperger and Mike Greschner.
