The grand opening of Casey’s Place, formerly Schrauf’s Pub, is slated from
Friday and Saturday, according to Jerry Mitra, now owner. Mitra, originally from
Chicago, is an Army veteran and was a recent cement finisher in Streamwood,
Illinois, before buying the bar at 206 N. Fist Street, Abbotsford.
His family consists of his wife, Monika, who is originally from Germany, and
their son, Patrick 13 and Michael 3.
The bar will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The grand opening celebrations will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Mitra plans to remodel and modernize the bar in the near future, and said he and
his wife are happy to be part of Abbotsford.
