The Rev. James F. Schaefer became the new pastor of Saint Louis Catholic Church
Wednesday, June 18, 1975. He came here from Holy Rosary Parish at Lima. He
succeeds Rev. Jacob Burggraf, who resigned his pastorate at Saint Louis Parish
recently.
Father Schaefer was ordained May 1961 and has served Sacred Heart Parish in
Marshfield, St. Anne’s in Wausau, St. Stephen’s in Stevens Point, and Holy
Rosary Parish at Lima.
Father Schaefer was born in Buffalo County February 27, 1935. His parents were
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schaefer. He received his high school and philosophy
education at Holy Crosse Seminary in La Crosse. His theology training was at St.
John’s Seminary, Collegeville, Minnesota.
