Sweet, Peggy L. (19 December 1954 – 11 December 2022)

Peggy L. Sweet-Montag, age 67, of Nekoosa, died Sunday, December 11, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.

Peggy was born December 19, 1954, in Shawano, to Gordon and Betty (Martzke) Moede. She graduated from Granton High School in 1973. Peggy was employed in the Lab Supportive Services Department of Marshfield Clinic for 25 years, retiring January 2015.

Her marriage to John R. Sweet ended in divorce. Peggy married Daniel G. Montag on March 8, 2006, at the Breezes Resort in St. Ann, Jamaica. Peggy was most happy when she could have her hands in the dirt while gardening and planting flowers around the yard. On hot sunny days, she enjoyed being out in the boat fishing. Her other interests included making quilts or just reading a good book.

Peggy is survived by her husband Daniel Montag of Nekoosa, sons; Bradley Sweet of Merrill, Kyle (Sabrina Snapp) Sweet of Verona, granddaughter Penelope Sweet of Verona, brothers; Gale (Susan) Moede of Hewitt, Greg (Lisa Slaby) Moede of Park Falls, sisters; Penny (Peter) Droste of Wis. Rapids, Patty (Jim Zabawa) Bartlett of Nekoosa, Polly Meddaugh of Wis. Rapids, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Betty Moede and brother Glenn Moede.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Entombment will be private at Forest Hill Mausoleum. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Diabetes Association or the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive & Kidney Diseases.
