The Tribune Record Gleaner (TRG) welcomes Valorie Brecht as editor. Brecht will fill the role vacated by Dean Lesar, who is retiring after 36 years with the publication.

Brecht, a Loyal native, started at the TRG Monday. She comes to the TRG with local journalism experience, having worked at The Clark County Press for just over four years as a reporter and later, editor. Prior to that, she attended Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN, earning degrees in English and music.

“I’ve always enjoyed writing. I appreciate the opportunity to inform the public on important local issues and share the many good things happening in our close-knit community,” Brecht said.

“I am looking forward to writing for my hometown paper and building more connections with community members in Loyal, Greenwood, Granton, and Spencer, and the surrounding area,” she added.

Brecht lives in Loyal. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, singing, and outdoor activities like walking or biking in the summertime.

“Please don’t hesitate to send me any news tips or story ideas you might have. I want to cover the stories most important to you, the readers. I would be happy to hear from you,” said Brecht.

She can be reached by calling the TRG office at 715-255-8531 or emailing news@trgnews.com.
