Roehl, Glen H. (20 January 1909 – 27 June 1982)
Glen H. Roehl, a Town of York native, passed away on Sunday afternoon in St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He was 73.
He was born on January 20, 1909, in the Town of York to Herman and Clara
(Ackerman) Roehl. He attended local schools and began farming in the Town of
Fremont. On August 28, 1929, he married Naomi Foemmel in Chili ceremonies and
the couple continued to farm in Fremont. He also worked as a truck driver and in
sawmills. In 1956, the couple moved to Marshfield, and he then drove truck for
his son, Everett. He also worked in his son’s garage.
Roehl was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Marshfield.
Surviving him, besides his wife, are three sons, Everett and Kenneth, both of
Marshfield and Harlyn of Grand Rapids, Michigan; four daughters, Mrs. Herman
(Vivian) Zemke of Milwaukee, Mrs. Gerald (Arvella) Bores of Stratford and Mrs.
Charles (Delores) Schueller and Mrs. Jack (Dinah) Holland, both of Marshfield;
22 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Also survi8ving are two
sisters, Mrs. Vera Carstensen of Neillsville and Mrs. Gerald (Lila) Nelson of
Spencer; and five brothers, Leo, Carl and Harvey, all of Chili, Walter of
Granton and Alvin of Spencer. He was preceded in death by a sister and a
brother.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, June 29, from Zion United
Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wreford of Wesley United Methodist
officiating. Burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery with grandsons serving as
pallbearers. The Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
