Haas, Irene Rose (9 January 1926 – 14 December 2022)

Irene R. Haas, 96, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Turner Integrity Care.

Irene Rose Haas was born on January 9, 1926, in Winsted, Connecticut, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Pietrzak) Ciolkosz. As a young child, Irene's family moved to Chicago, IL for a short time, before moving to the Thorp area. She was united in marriage to Wilfrid C. Haas on September 28, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stanley, WI. In addition to farming with her husband, Irene also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Thorp Oakbrook Manor. After Wilfrid's death, she moved to the City of Thorp, where she resided until her passing.

She was an excellent cook and loved quilting. Irene volunteered at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, and at Victory Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Stanley.

Irene was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by her six children: Thomas (Donna) Haas of Stanley, Kathleen Kobylarczyk of Thorp, Joseph (Shirley) Haas of Withee, Mary (Bill) Badzinski of Stanley, Kristine Stuttgen of Thorp, Karol (Alan) Debevec of Greenwood; and daughter-in-law Carol Haas of Thorp; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Phyllis Skaleski of Clermont, FL, Judy (Bill) Foster of Chippewa Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Wilfrid; her sons: Allen Haas in infancy; Keith Haas; her daughter: Paulette Haas; her son-in-law: James Kobylarczyk; two brothers: Rudy and Philip Ciolkosz; and three sisters: Doris Healy, Sylvia Przybylski and Marlene Soborowicz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Stanislaus Michael Antony will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, with Irene's grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
