A new educational leader in this community has many varied duties and
responsibilities. Dr. William R. Thompson, Superintendent of the Colby Public
Schools, feels that one way to assure that the educational needs are met is to
have an open door policy for the people of the community to express their
opinions and ask questions.
Dr. Thompson’s responsibilities will include being an educational leader and
catalyst in the school system between instructional programs and the funding
sources, working closely with others in the Colby system to develop the most
appropriate programs for the students and selected school personnel.
Some of his other duties are monitoring the financial and business aspects of
the schools, helping eh school board develop school policy and maintaining
cooperation and coordination between the school and the community.
Since coming to Colby, Dr. Thompson received a letter that holds in high regard
from the superintendent of the school boards of Palm Beach County, Florida,
commending him for his years of services and contributions to the central area
of Florida.
Thompson said he is happy to be back in Wisconsin and is looking forward to his
involvement in the community.
