Martin, Lillian D. (1 July 1894 – 2 July 1982)
A Lynn area native, Mrs. Lillian D. Martin, 88, passed away on Friday, July 2,
at the home of her daughter in Corvallis, Oregon.
Mrs. Martin was born on July 1, 1894, to Max and Phoebe (Sternitzky) Opelt in
Lynn. On October 14, 1914, she married Paul Martin, and the couple operated a
store in Sheridan and later in Lindsey. In 1942, they moved to Corvallis and
worked as custodians at Oregon State University until retiring in 1959. She was
a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 6, from a Corvallis funeral home
with burial in that community.
Surviving her are three sons, Stanley of Corvallis, Paul of Las Vegas and James
of Sparks, Nevada; two daughters, Doris Brandt of Corvallis and Elaine Wirtz of
Longview, Washington; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also
survived by two brothers, Carl Opelt of Neillsville and Max Opelt of Granton,
and a sister, Martha Lautenbach, Neillsville. She was preceded in death by her
husband; a son, Donald, and a brother, Arthur.
