Zwirchitz, Delmar J. (31 Aug 1924 – 7 Sep 1975)

Delmar J. Zwirchitz, age 51, Colby Packaging Corporation Plant Manager for the past seven years, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, September 7, 1975.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Abbotsford, with the Rev. Robert Swalve officiating.

Burial will take place in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Mr. Zwirchitz was born August 31, 1924 at Birnamwood, Wisconsin.

He married Jane Hetzel on June 18, 1946, in Merrill.

Mr. Zwirchitz graduated from the Merrill High School and served in World War II from March 1943 to January 1946. In April 1946 he moved to Eau Claire, where he was manager of the Milwaukee Journal.

Mr. Zwirchitz worked at the Tomahawk National Container for nine years. In 1955, he began working at the Packaging Corporation.

He has lived in Abbotsford since February 1955.

In 1974, Mr. Zwirchitz received the production efficiency award at Packaging Corporation.

Mr. Zwirchitz was a charter member and past president of the Abbotsford Lions Club, a member and past president of the Snowgoer Snowmobile Club in Abbotsford, a director of Meadowview County Club in Owen, and served for two terms as the fourth ward alderman for the city of Abbotsford.

Mr. Zwirchitz is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Judith) Uselding, Sheboygan, and a son, Edward, Wausau; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Zwirchitz, Mesa, Arizona; one brother, Edward Merrill,; one step-brother, Franklin Weber, Chandler, Arizona, and one step-sister, Mrs. Harley (Faye) Hukie, Appleton.

He was preceded in death by a son Dennis, and his mother.
