The first nursery school in Clark County opened in Abbotsford, September 22,
1975, with 38 area pre-school children enrolled.
Rhyme Time Nursery School, located in the Abbotsford Sportsmen Club on Main and
Pine Street is under the direction of Mrs. Louetta Suder, Route 2, Athens.
The school operates Monday through Thursdays for children three to five years of
age. They attend sessions for two and a half hours, twice a week, with a maximum
of 12 children per session.
Pre-schoolers participate in a variety of social and education activities. Each
session has planned art projects, songs, finger-plays, story-time, and a
mid-session snack.
Because play is a valuable learning tool and aids in the child’s growth and
development, emotionally and socially, the school is placing play as its major
emphasis.
All activities are planned to enable the child to learn how to get along with
others, both individually and as a member of a peer group.
Research indicates that group experiences provided by nursery school influence
the positive kinds of attitudes a child develops towards himself and others, and
towards the world around him.
Children are enrolled in the state licensed nursery school from Abbotsford,
Dorchester, Medford, Milan, Colby and Unity.
Mrs. Suder is a state certified nursery school teacher and recently became
certified as a remedial reading teacher.
Parents and the public are invited to observe classes in session.
