Malchow, Walter (21 Dec 1889 – 27 Sep 1975)
Walter Malchow, 85, a native of Dorchester, died Saturday, September 27, 1975 at
St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
Funeral services were held at a funeral home there, and burial was in the Forest
Cemetery, Stevens Point. The Rev. Thomas Saffold, pastor of First Baptist
Church, officiated.
Mr. Malchow was born December 21, 1889 in Dorchester. He attended Dorchester
schools and worked for the Soo Line Railroad as a fire watcher. Later he moved
to Stevens Point and worked for the railroad, and retired as an engineer in
1958.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.
He was married in 1924 to Hazel Dopp in Stevens Point. She died in 1973.
Survivors include four sons, Clifford Malchow, North Brook, Illinois; Leland
Malchow, Augusta, Georgia; Paul and Daniel, both of Stevens Point; two
daughters, Jean Malchow, Milwaukee, and Mrs. James (Nancy) Dottke, New Berlin;
one brother, Fred Malchow, Colby; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Marlow, Dorchester,
and Mrs. Hugo )Bertha) Zenker, Park Falls; six grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, four brothers and two
sisters.
Those from this area who attended the funeral at Stevens Point Tuesday were Mrs.
Alvina Marlow, George Rau and William Rau, Dorchester, Mrs. Frank Hunt, Colby,
and Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Zenker, Park Falls.
