Abbotsford Volunteer Firemen were unable to save a barn owned by Harold
Christensen, Abbotsford, and used as a sales barn at Route 1, Abbotsford. Mrs.
John Schorer, a neighbor, called in the alarm around 2 p.m., October 9, 1975,
when she saw flames coming out of the barn’s roof. Christensen and three other
men were in the barn at the time and were able to lead 40 head of cattle to
safety. Firemen hook up 1,800 feet of hose to a city hydrant in an effort to
save the lower portion of the barn. Eight thousand bales of hay were destroyed
along with the barn.
