The March of Dimes Clark County Chapter was honored with a National Award when volunteers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska met October 12 and 12, 1975 at a regional meeting in Minneapolis.

Pat Kostelecky, Thorp, accepted the plaque from Arthur Gallway, vice president and director of Development for the National Foundation. Mrs. Kostelecky is the March of Dimes Clark County Chairman.

The award recognized the chapter for the largest increase in per capita donations for the past year, a 202 percent increase. Mrs. Kostelecky credits the large increase to the walkathon held last spring, which was sponsored by six Future Business Leaders of America groups of the county. Colby and Abbotsford school were represented in the group of walkers and a total of over $10,500 was collected.

A portion of the county’s campaign is sent to the National Foundation for medical research, some of which is done in Marshfield. A portion also remains in the county to aid our own patients who have been affected by polio or birth defects.

Mrs. Kostelecky adds that educational material such as films and filmstrips will be place in the schools very soon, and it is hoped that health scholarships can be established in all high schools in the county by spring.

The annual March of Dimes Fund Drive begins in January.
