Thorp FFA member Ivan Neisius has each received a $1,000 SAE (Supervised
Agricultural Experience) Grant. SAE grants are designed to help FFA members
create or expand Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, a
requirement that all FFA members must complete. An SAE requires FFA members to
create and operate an agriculture related business, work at an
agriculture-related business or conduct an agricultural research experience.
Upon completion, FFA members must submit a comprehensive report regarding their
career development experience.
Junior Ivan Neisius who has raised rabbits for most of his life said that he
applied for the grant in order to update the habitat for his rabbits. Ivan who
raises a breed of show rabbits called Satins says that he will use the grant
money to build a new shed for his Neisius Rabbitry. Ivan will also purchase new
cages as well as heating pads, which will make the environment for his
prize-winning rabbits more comfortable during the long Wisconsin winters. Ivan's
goal is to expand his rabbitry while gaining more experience in the business.
Congratulations to Ivan on receiving SAE grants, we wish you great success in
your endeavors.
