Thorp FFA member Kendall Luzinski has received a $1,000 SAE (Supervised
Agricultural Experience) Grant. SAE grants are designed to help FFA members
create or expand Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, a
requirement that all FFA members must complete. An SAE requires FFA members to
create and operate an agriculture related business, work at an
agriculture-related business or conduct an agricultural research experience.
Upon completion, FFA members must submit a comprehensive report regarding their
career development experience.
Kendall Luzinski who is also a junior at Thorp High School raises beef cattle
and for the last three years she has shown her steers at the fair. While Kendall
is happy with her two current beef projects an Angus-cross steer named Rowdy and
a Charolais-cross steer named Wrangler she hopes to begin a herd of her own by
purchasing a Charolais breed heifer with the grant money. Kendall says that she
hopes to purchase the Heifer by the end of January 2023. She then plans to breed
the show heifer in June of 2023 in hopes of having a calf to show in the 2024
fair.
Congratulations to Kendall on receiving SAE grants, we wish you great success in
your endeavors.
