Jane M. Polnaszek, a senior at Abbotsford High School and the daughter of Mrs.
Frances Polnaszek, Abbotsford, is this year’s winner of the local Daughters of
the American Revolution Good Citizen contest.
Candidates for this award are selected from the senior class, and
representatives from the high school faculty do the judging on the basis of
dependability, leadership, patriotism and served to home, church and community.
Winners of the local contests are eligible to enter the state DAR Good Citizen
contest, where a $200 bond is awarded to the winner. The second and third places
receive $25 and $15 respectively. The national contest is the final step, with a
$1,000 scholarship given to the winner. This scholarship cane be used at the
college of her choice.
Miss Polnaszek has participated in many extra-curricular activities in high
school. These activities include vice-president of the math club, freshman and
sophomore class secretary, GAA president and editor of the school newspaper, and
was a Badger Girl.
She plans on attending St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Marshfield.
