On December 30, 1975, Sister Agnes Stauner left Dorchester to retire at St.
Joseph’s Convent in Campbellsport. She had spent four and one-half years on the
faculty at St. Louis Catholic School. Sister Agnes has been a member of the
School Sisters of St. Francis for over 52 years. She received her education in
such schools as Marquette in Milwaukee; University of Wisconsin, Madison; De
Paul University, Chicago; Alverno College in Milwaukee; Chicago Normal School
and Mount Mary College, Milwaukee. She held several degrees and certificates.
She was named an outstanding teacher while in Milwaukee, and last year was
listed among the outstanding educators in the United States.
Sister Agnes spent most of her time teaching in large schools in the Chicago and
Milwaukee areas. Before she retired she wanted to return to her home area to
teach. Most of her relatives live in Medford or near that city.
She has served on the same faculty here at St. Louis School with her sister,
Mrs. Leonard La Berge of Stetsonville, during these past four and one-half
years.
