Anderson, Velda Mae (18 April 1932 – 6 January 2023)

Velda M. Anderson, age 90, of Withee, passed away at her home on Friday, January 6, 2023, surrounded by her family under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.

Velda was born on April 18, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Robertson) Arndt in Owen. She was united in marriage to Harvey Anderson on May 6, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Withee. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2021.

Velda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She sang in the church choir, member of the Ladies Aid, quilter club, VBS helper and Bible classes. Velda was a member of the Owen-Withee Vets Club, a Cub Scout leader and together with Harvey, started the North Star Driving Club. She was awarded the Outstanding Citizen in 1987. Velda also made and decorated cakes cleaned homes and enjoyed being a homemaker.

Velda is survived by her daughter, Janice (Allen) Arndt of Withee; six grandchildren: Debbie (Matt) Porath of Unity, Sonia (Damian) Lewis of Sioux Falls, SD, Chrissie Anderson of Gile, Garyn (Mike) Partanen of Bessemer, MI, Billy Jr. (Logan) Anderson of Withee and Earl Robertson of Owen; 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters: Dolly Lindberg and Barbara Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; two sons: Ronald and Billy Sr.; two grandsons: John Arndt and Joseph Anderson and four siblings: Bob, Ken, Joyce and George.

The Anderson family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care Velda received.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee.
