Millard, Donovan Gyle (20 August 2004 – 1 January 2023)
Donovan Gyle Millard, 18-year-old resident of Marshfield, passed on New Year’s
Day of 2023.
Donovan was born to Norman and Anna Millard, on August 20th of 2004, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He spent much of his youth under the guardianship
of his maternal grandmother Patricia Veasy, in Neillsville. He grew up with
three older sisters and had some contact with two older half siblings living in
Montana.
He had an encyclopedic passion for history, theology, and language, and had
dreams of one day traveling to Antarctica to experience its unique and natural
solitude. As well as many other travel goals, he had a desire to leave the
United States for good someday, and to make a life for himself in Norway.
Though not a practicing Pagan, Donovan held a deep appreciation for Pagan
beliefs, and enjoyed exploring how differing spiritual beliefs impacted the way
people perceived the world.
In his final weeks, Donovan made continuous efforts to reach out to and connect
with family and friends, staying up with them into the late hours of the night
to discuss life, literature, psychology, and philosophy. He did not die
believing he was alone or unloved.
He will be remembered as a doting uncle (however embarrassed he was by having it
noticed), for his dark but witty sense of humor, arsenal of curious facts to
share, and for his thoughtful commentary about the world around him.
Donovan is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Gyle and Eunice Millard,
parents Norman and Anna Millard, three aunts Dana Millard, Jean Riesenwebber,
and Kolene Shnitzler, cousin Marshall Sims, and twin uncles Lucas and Wade
Haskins.
He is survived by his grandmother, Patricia (Veasey) Haskins, 3 sisters, Lindsey
Millard, Riley Grabowski (and husband Zachary), M. Quinn Millard, half-brother
Tyler Millard, half-sister Tiffany Millard, two nieces, Tyleah Millard and Maisy
Grabowski, nephew, Dax Millard, and several aunts, uncles, and a plethora of
cousins and second cousins.
There will be a closed service on Friday January 13th, at noon.
