Initiated on January 29, 1976 to the Delta Mu Chapter of the national fraternity of Phi Beta Lambda at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, was Ruth Haavisto, Colby.

The purpose of Phi Beta Lambda, chartered at UW-Eau Claire in 1967, is to assist young people enrolled in business programs to develop vocational competencies and a sense of civic responsibility. Events and activities conducted regularly include participation in business education workshops and secretarial seminars in membership and social activities, and in state and national conventions.
