Blanke, Emma (8 Jun 1905 – 10 Feb 1976)
Funeral services were held Thursday for Mrs. Fred (Emma) Blanke, age 70, of
Route 2, Athens.
The Rev. Kenneth Dix of the United Church of Christ, Colby, officiated at the 1
p.m. rites held at Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford.
Burial was in the Abbotsford Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elmer Schemenauer, Dan Binder, Eugene Gumz, Leonard Jantsch,
Ferdinand Huhn and Alfred Schmidt.
Mrs. Blanke died Tuesday, February 10, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital,
Marshfield.
The former Emma Gerlach was born June 8, 1905 in the Town of Johnson. She
married Fred Blanke on November 10, 1923 in New Berlin. They celebrated 50 years
of marriage in 1973.
After their marriage the couple lived in the Town of Johnson, where her husband
operated a service station. She also worked at Kraft Food in Milan from 1946 to
1951.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two grandchildren and one brother, Otto
Gerlach, McGregor, Minnesota.
